Privacy Policy

👋 Overview

ByteKit Sales and Inventory Tracker ("the App") is developed and maintained by ByteKit PH. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it on your Android device.

📦 Data We Collect

The App stores the following data on your device only:

• Product names, prices, costs, and stock levels
• Sales transactions and order history
• Customer names and credit balances (utang)
• Expense records and owner's draws
• Store settings and preferences
• Product photos captured using your device camera
• E-services transaction records

None of this data is transmitted to ByteKit PH. It stays on your device, unless you manually export a backup file, turn on Google Drive Backup (see below), or use LAN Sync to share it with another device you own on your own local network (also see below).

🔗 Google Drive Backup (Optional)

ByteKit offers an optional feature that automatically backs up your business data to your own Google Drive. This feature is off unless you sign in with your Google Account and enable it in Settings.

What we access: ByteKit uses Google's drive.file scope — the most restrictive Drive scope Google offers. This means the App can only see and manage files that it creates itself. It cannot see, read, or modify any other file in your Google Drive — not your photos, documents, or anything created by another app.

What gets uploaded: a periodic .zip backup of your business data and product photos — the same content as a manual Export — saved into a folder named "ByteKit POS Backups" that the App creates in your Drive.

Who can see it: only you. This backup goes directly from your device to your own Google Drive account. ByteKit PH never receives, stores, or has access to this data at any point — we do not operate a server that this data passes through.

Turning it off / revoking access: you can disable Google Drive Backup at any time in the App's Settings. You can also revoke ByteKit's access to your Google Account entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access does not delete backups already saved in your Drive — those are your files, in your Drive, and you can delete them yourself at any time.

🔄 LAN Sync (Optional)

ByteKit lets you connect two or more of your own devices (e.g. a main counter and a second till) so they share the same product, sales, and customer data. This happens directly between your devices over your own local Wi-Fi network — it does not go through the internet or through any ByteKit PH server. If your devices aren't on the same local network, sync simply doesn't happen.

📷 Camera Permission

The App requests access to your device camera for two purposes:

• Barcode scanning — to quickly add products to a sale by scanning their barcode
• QR code scanning — to connect and sync with another device over a local network (LAN sync)
• Product photos — to capture and attach photos to your product inventory
• Payment screenshot scanning (OCR) — to read GCash and Maya payment confirmation screenshots for faster transaction recording

Camera access is only activated when you tap the scan or photo button. The App does not access the camera in the background, does not record video, and does not upload any images to external servers.

🌐 Internet Permission

The App requests internet access for the following purposes:

• License verification — to validate your access code when activating the app or transferring it to a new device
• Silent revalidation — a periodic background check (every 30 seconds when online) to confirm your license is still active
• Google Drive Backup (optional) — only if you choose to sign in and enable it; see the dedicated section above

The App functions fully offline for day-to-day use such as sales, inventory, and reports — internet is only used for the license checks above, and for Google Drive Backup specifically if you've turned that on.

License verification communicates only with a private, secure repository maintained by ByteKit PH. No personal or business data is transmitted during this process — only your device's anonymous hardware identifier and your license key.

📱 Device Identifier

The App reads your device's Android ID — a unique anonymous identifier assigned by Android to each device. This identifier is used exclusively to bind your license to your device and to prevent unauthorized sharing of license keys.

The Android ID is not linked to your name, Google account, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

📳 Vibration Permission

The App requests vibration permission to provide haptic feedback when a barcode is successfully scanned. This is optional and can be turned off in the App's scanner settings.

🔔 Notifications Permission

The App requests permission to send notifications to your device. These are used exclusively to provide: • Inventory Alerts — to notify you of low stock levels or expired products. • System Status — to provide updates on background tasks like data backups. All notification logic is processed locally on your device. The App does not send notification data to external servers, and you can disable these alerts at any time in your device settings.

📶 Bluetooth Permission

The App requests Bluetooth access to connect to external hardware, such as thermal receipt printers. This connection is used only for local printing and no business or personal data is transmitted via Bluetooth to any third party.

💾 Local Backup Files

When you use the Export or local Auto Save feature, the App creates a .zip backup file containing your business data and product images. This file is saved to a folder you choose on your device — this is separate from the optional Google Drive Backup described earlier.

ByteKit PH does not have access to your backup files, whether local or on Google Drive. You are solely responsible for the security of any exported backup files.

🔒 Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends on the security of your Android device. We recommend:

• Keeping your device locked with a PIN or biometric
• Regularly exporting and storing backup files in a safe location
• Not sharing your device with untrusted users

👶 Children's Privacy

ByteKit Sales and Inventory Tracker is intended for use by adults and business owners. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

🗑️ Data Deletion

You have full control over your data in ByteKit Sales and Inventory Tracker. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time using one of the following methods:

• Delete Individual Records — Go to Products, Customers, Orders, or Expenses and swipe or tap to delete any specific item.
• Clear All Data — Open Settings → scroll to "Delete All Data" → tap "Confirm Delete" to permanently remove all app data including products, sales, customers, photos, and settings.
• Uninstall the App — Removing the app from your device automatically deletes all stored data. No data remains on our servers.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

ByteKit PH may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
